| ECN research workshop
4 October 2006,
CEH Wallingford, 10:00-16:00
ECN is organising a research workshop with the following aims:
- To review the data being produced by the ECN to identify effects
of climate, weather patterns and climate change.
- To discuss the implications of these results for the development
of climate change science and policy.
- To identify opportunities for future research and analysis using
ECN data and sites.
ECN data have been used to address important research questions from an
early stage, both by themselves and in conjunction with other site-specific
research. However as the time series become longer, they become more and
more valuable and our ability to detect long-term trends and extreme events
is now much greater than it was a few years ago. The last major opportunity
for the wider ‘ECN community’ to discuss emerging data was in 2003 at the
British Ecological Society annual conference, when we organised a special
thematic session on long-term monitoring. This workshop is therefore timely
and we hope that the specific topic of Climate Change: Impacts and
Interactions will encourage a focussed discussion and lead to new
collaborations and initiatives.
A draft programme and the practical arrangements for the meeting are now
available. |
