How to reserve a place at the event and the associated costs

To secure a place at the symposium, please complete the registration form. Once your completed registration is received, we will contact you with further instructions concerning payment. Once we have confirmed that your payment has been successful, we will confirm your place. Please note that we can only allocate you a place once your payment is confirmed.

How much will it cost?

The symposium fee is £20 and includes refreshments and lunch on Day 2. The symposium fee will be waived for confirmed speakers on the programme.

There will be an optional symposium dinner on Monday 12 May, in the evening. If you would like to attend, the cost is an additional £25. Alternatively, there is a range of places to eat on campus and in Lancaster city centre.

We regret that we are unable to offer any discounts.

How to pay

Payments will be handled by Research Councils UK Shared Business Services (SBS). They can accept card payment via telephone, cheques via post or payment by bank transfer. Please see these instructions on how to pay.

Please note that payment 'on the door' is not possible. All payments must be made in advance to SBS.

Important: Do not pay until you have complete the registration form and heard back from us that a place is available!


If you pay the registration fee and are subsequently unable to attend the symposium, we can refund you. However, please note the following:

  • SBS will only issue a refund on the instruction of the symposium organisers. Therefore, to request a refund, please contact Andrew Sier, CEH. Please do not contact SBS directly.
  • If you have paid by credit or debit card, a refund can only be made to the card used in the original transaction.
  • Please be prepared to confirm the date of the payment, the amount paid, method of payment and the name of the payer.
  • The last date for requesting a refund is 30 April 2014.

Of course, if we have to cancel the event for any reason, we will refund you.
