Payment instructions

Information about how to pay the symposium fee

Payment for the symposium will be administered by RCUK Shared Business Services Centre Ltd (SBS). There are three ways to pay:

Credit or debit card via telephone

Please phone SBS on 01793 867000. Select option 1 (Research Councils) then option 4 (Finance).

Please provide the following information:

  • Your name (and the name of the person you are paying for, if different)
  • Your card details
  • The short name of the symposium: “ECN 20 years symposium”
  • The relevant research council: NERC
  • Account code: 4242
  • The cost centre: C500-63024


Cheques should be sent to: RCUK Shared Business Services Ltd, North Star House, North Star Avenue, Swindon SN2 1FF. Please mark the back of the cheque CLEARLY with:

  • “ECN 20 years symposium”
  • Your name in BLOCK CAPITALS (and the name of the person you are paying for, if different)
  • Account code: 4242
  • The cost centre: C500-63024

Bank transfer

Please quote reference “ECN 20 years symposium” and give your name (and the name of the person you are paying for, if different). The sterling account details for NERC are:

Who should pay?

In order to attend the symposium you must pay the delegate fee unless:

  1. You are a speaker named on the symposium programme
  2. You have received written confirmation from the symposium organisers that your fee is waived.


We regret that SBS are unable to issue receipts. However, if paying by card, the card software will send a confirmation email to the cardholder when the card is processed by the SBS.

You are urged to keep your own record of your payment, such as date, amount, card used/cheque number, etc. This will help if you have to make an enquiry about your payment.


If you pay the registration fee and are subsequently unable to attend the symposium, we can refund you. However, please note the following:

  • SBS will only issue a refund on the instruction of the symposium organisers. Therefore, to request a refund, please contact Andrew Sier, CEH. Please do not contact SBS directly.
  • If you have paid by credit or debit card, a refund can only be made to the card used in the original transaction.
  • Please be prepared to confirm the date of the payment, the amount paid, method of payment and the name of the payer.
  • The last date for requesting a refund is 30 April 2014.
