Using text, illustrations and simple exercises, the tutorial aims to help students studying Key Stage 3 Geography to understand the complex area of weather, climate and climate change. The exercises encourage independent learning, guiding students to explore the topics in greater depth.

The tutorial was originally developed by Daniel Jackson, a student at Liverpool Hope University College, as part of a final year BSc (Hons) Geography project. It was updated by staff at the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (coordinators of ECN) in 2011, when ECN’s new website was launched. The tutorial draws upon trusted external sources of information and some of the exercises make use of ECN data, enabling students and teachers to explore ECN’s environmental data resources.

We are grateful to C3W for initiating this work and funding the translation.
