Wytham oak filmed for BBC documentary
In Oak Tree: Nature's Greatest Survivor, a 90-minute film for BBC Four, entomologist George McGavin studies one of the great icons of the British countryside - the oak tree. The programme reveals a year in the life of the tree, considering how it has adapted to the ever-changing countryside and exploring the oak species' role in British culture and history.
Oak Tree: Nature's Greatest Survivor will be shown on BBC Four TV on Thursday 1 October at 9:00pm.
CEH staff at ECN Wytham provided the film's makers with meteorological data from the site.
