Terrestrial

From the moment water samples are gathered they begin to deteriorate as a result of chemical and microbiological processes. Three methods of slowing this deterioration are used in ECN - filtration, cold storage, and (for Aluminium and iron determinations only) acidification.

Our field activities

MARCH

In March activities at our terrestrial sites pick up after the winter. We start monitoring frog pools, moths and spiders, and prepare for ground beetle recording in April. At freshwater sites the winter measurements continue.
